Chapter 6

We let the horses take the lead and just ride through the trails catching up. My sister has not heard about my connection to Al yet. So, this morning I tell her and her mom, everything. We are riding and chatting jus the two of us. I have to admit that after the insane hectic-ness my life has been lately I am rather enjoying it. I have become proficient at riding over the years.

"So, you will live for a long time. Are you sure you are okay with this? You said a blood bond witch could break the curse. Don't you even want to try?"

My sister and I are human. We have never entertained the idea of living for more than a hundred years, and that is if we are lucky. Perhaps to her, it is incomprehensible, she is happy with her life and the time she has.

I want to create something lasting. Something that will influence the world that will rock it on its hinges. To leave it better than I found it. I know I can’t do that with a human lifespan, it will be a long tedious process. We are making leaps, but not all are okay with it and it won’t always be peaceful but I want to be there to see it through.

"I am not unhappy with how things turned out. I am far too distrustful of men to have a regular relationship."

"So, what are you and Alastair now?"

I hate this question. Al and my relationship has never been categorize-able. We are family, but not brother and sister. We are friends but at the same time family. I am his food and he is my protector. We have a blood bond but are not a couple. That doesn’t make it easier to answer this question.

"We are just us."

"Are you in love with him?"

"I have always loved Al sis. Just not the way everyone thinks. It doesn’t have a definition or boundaries. It just is."

"You never did well with boundaries."

I laugh, I suppose I haven't. "No, I do not. That is what I am doing; I am breaking boundaries and reshaping the world. It will take time; Al has given me the means to complete my life ambition I even have longer to see it through now."

"Will you age the same?"

"No. I will age more like a vampire."

I am glad I will not be an old woman for hundreds, possibly thousands, of years, but I can't imagine losing my sister to time. It is so hard to think of what I have been trying not to. All my witch friends will live about a hundred, hundred and fifty tops. The werewolves about two hundred…not that I have many of them for friends.

"I am going to be meeting the vampire king, on a personal level, over thanksgiving break."

"Do they celebrate that?"

"No, but we have breaks for human holidays so the human students can celebrate. We kind of have a few more breaks than normal schools because we have three days off around the full moon.
